The Bill Chipman Palouse Trail is a seven-mile paved path connecting Pullman, WA, and Moscow, ID, following a former railroad along Paradise Creek and the Pullman-Moscow Highway. Wide and accessible for all ages, the trail crosses the creek 12 times via original railroad bridges and offers scenic views of Palouse farmland. Interpretive signs highlight local history, agriculture, and ecology, while amenities include benches, bike racks, and accessible restrooms—perfect for walking, biking, and wildlife watching.

Trail Use

  • Open dawn to dusk, year-round, no camping permitted
  • Pedestrians have the right-of-way
  • Keep to the right side of the trail; pass on the left
  • Yield to vehicles at all intersections
  • Only sections are plowed in winter; trail may be hazardous
  • Pets must always be on a leash, 6 feet or less
  • Pet owners must clean up after their pets
  • Speed limit: 15 MPH
  • No motor vehicles allowed
  • Class 1 e-bikes are permitted; Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes are not permitted
  • Equestrian activities are not permitted
