I am glad you have decided to take your first step toward processing your claim.  Consider me your personal navigator, as I am here to help you navigate the VA system and obtain a favorable outcome. To expedite your request, and ensure it is received without complication, please take the following actions:

  1. First step, VA Form -21-22 (Included in packet) Power of Attorney for VA records, Appointment of Veterans Service Organization as Claimant’s Representative.  The printable version can be found at…  https://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-22-ARE.pdf
  2.  Fill out the intent to file, VBA-21-0966-ARE, the date VA receives this from me is the date you will be back paid to should you receive an award. https://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-0966-ARE.pdf

So… what’s next?

For most claims* you will need a diagnosis that relates to an event or exposure that is recorded in your Service Treatment Records. Please obtain a diagnosis from your primary care provider, a Nexus letter, your DD214 and a voided check and we will be ready to file your claim.

*Exceptions include Tinnitus, Hearing loss no STR’s, diagnosis or Nexus required and ALS service treatment records are not necessary.
