Whitman County Parks – General Regulations
Park Hours
- All parks are open daily from 7:00 a.m. until sunset.
Pets
- Domesticated pets are allowed in all parks but must be kept on a leash at all times for the safety of visitors, wildlife, and other animals.
- Horses and other large animals are permitted only on the Colfax Trail.
Fires
- All fires must be contained within a park pit or grill.
- Fire restrictions are implemented annually as fire season dictates, usually from June 10 through October 10.
- Local fire restrictions are posted at each park.
Fireworks and Firearms
- Fireworks and the discharge of firearms are prohibited in all County Parks.
Amplified Sounds
- Loud music or announcement systems are not allowed to preserve the enjoyment of all visitors.
Camping
- Camping is allowed only in designated campgrounds at Kamiak Butte and Wawawai County Parks.
- All campsites are first-come, first-served; there is no reservation system.
- Fees: $25 per night plus $5 for a second vehicle.
- Each site includes a picnic table and grill (subject to fire restrictions).
- Pit toilets are available year-round; no showers are provided.
- No electrical hookups are available.
- Drinking water may be available during warmer months.
- Campers must adhere to park open hours for entry and exit.
